Other software that you'll need to run rideplot

Perl5 - the interpreter to run the program
the following Perl modules:
- POSIX (inlcuded with Perl) - to access the operating system
- Getopt::Long (inlcuded with Perl) - to read the command line options
- GD - to output the PNG image
- Date::Calc - to decode timestamps and compute differences in time
gpstrans - to download the telemetry from a Garmin GPS

Description of formulas used by rideplot

Great Circle distance between two points: The formula used by rideplot is described at http://users.netonecom.net/~rburtch/geodesy/datm_faq.html#2.1

Due to the dependency on gpstrans, rideplot is currently only able to support Garmin GPS units. (It was written that way because that's what the author has.) However, contributions to cover other manufacturers will be accepted.
